The Harlan Valley Quilters would like to give a warm THANK YOU
to the Chapel of the Valley here in Harlan.
We have met here every Monday for the last 8 years.
The church has donated their fellowship hall and all of their facilities to us so that we can create Comfort Quilts for the Harlan Community.
We appreciate the time we have spent here, the classes we have had, sharing quilting information and bonding with fellow members.

In January please join us at our new location:
The Harlan Community Hall
The hall has recently been remodeled and is our new home.
Join us Monday, January 2, 2012
to create Comfort Quilts
Everyone is Welcome!

Challenge Fabric......Leftovers

I had some Batik Challenge fabric leftover...

It was laying on the end of the cutting table in a pile...

The batik made a great background for this P2P Journal Quilt

This is a class sample for the
Permission 2 Play class this week:

Does this mean I am officially done with my challenge?

Are you busy stitching on your challenge project?

I bet you are all done!

Bye For Now,
LuAnn

Challenge Peek...

Does this fabric look familiar?

I hope so...
It is our 2010 HVQ Batik Challenge Fabric

I thought I would give you a little sneak peek at what I have done so far on my challenge project:

As soon as I saw the fabric my thoughts immediately went to FLOWERS

It was fun fussy cutting the shapes from the yellows and pinks and oranges in this batik fabric...

Last week I put the border on...
Yes, I went and bought half a yard more of the challenge fabric for the border.

I am hoping this will go under the needle very soon.
I am feeling some pressure...
Less than 4 weeks until our BIG REVEAL.

How is your challenge project coming along?

Announcing our 2010 Challenge:

Drum Roll Please.......

2010 Challenge Fabric

Your challenge this year is to use this gorgeous batik fabric!

* You may use a published pattern, or design your own.

* You may use any construction method of your choice: Rotary Cut, Paper Piece, Applique, Machine Piece, Hand Piece, etc.

* You may add as many fabrics as you like, as long as you use some of the Challenge Fabric pictured above on the front side of your quilt.

* As always, you are encouraged to try something new, step outside of your comfort zone (but this is not a requirement of the challenge this year).

* You are also encouraged to take photographs of your work in progress, and jot down notes of your thoughts along the way. (these are helpful when you reveal your project).

* You may purchase 2010 Challenge Fabric from LuAnn:
$2.50 Fat Quarter
$5.00 Half Yard
If you absolutely love this fabric and want more, it can be purchased at JanniLou Creations Quilt shop in Philomath (while supplies last).
