We're having a Hot Pad Class

@ The Quilt Palace today

Hot Pad class samples...

This is a great way to use up large scraps of

fabric and batting...

The best part of this technique is

there is no binding !

We used 9 inch squares of fabric,

batting and insulbrite...

No binding and they are quilted

when you are done !

A great way to use up your fabric scraps

and make gifts for the friends and family...

Food fabrics are FUN !

Everyone enjoyed learning this technique

and are now in mass production for the

upcoming holidays...

Look through your fabric scraps as well as

those fabrics that we all have that we can't

seem to find a use for...

They will make great hot pads !

Look what we made !

Large zip pocket in the front

with pockets and handles on both sides...

We used Pellon Fusible Foam

instead of batting...

it helps the cover keep its' shape.

The Pellon Fusible Foam is also FUN

to machine quilt through...

Lots of storage in all of those pockets !

They are easy on and easy off...

a great way to keep the dust off your

favorite machines...

They also look great in your sewing room !

Foundation Paper Piecing Class

at The Harlan Valley Quilters

I brought along a few of my

Paper Piecing books for inspiration...

A few paper pieced quilt blocks

for even more inspiration...

This is a bare bones beginner class:

Everyone completed a square in a square

aka Economy Block with great success...

It was time for a bit more difficulty,

so we are making a Rainbow Star,

which is a 4 section paper pieced block...

Everyone had an opportunity to try out

an Add-A-Quarter Ruler

and liked them very much...

By the end of class,  everyone completed

a Rainbow Star....clap, clap, clap !

Paper Piecing class was a huge success !

Way to go Quilters !

Swoon Quilt-A-Long

April, May & June

The Harlan Valley Quilters

continue to work on our Swoon Blocks...

We began making a block 

each month in April...

We all chose our own fabrics

for our Swoon Blocks...

These are 24 inch blocks...

9 Blocks will create an 80 x 80 Quilt...

The first Wednesday of each month

is our day to piece our Swoon Block...

We have all made 3 blocks so far...

By the end of the year we will have

our quilt tops completed...

It has been FUN for us to share

our completed Swoon Blocks 

each month...

We all look forward to meeting up

at The Quilt Palace every Wednesday,

but Murphy enjoys it the most !
