Barbara irons the 106 inch Backing for the Quilt...

Betty & Barbara pieced the Back

We are running low on fabric...

So....we did a little Back Art

Time to break for lunch:

This is the last time we will meet as a group...

We break for the summer months

This is a farming community,

so everyone is busy during June, July & August

We will return in September

We are auditioning borders today:

Audition 1.....Green with Dots

Audition 2......Bright Flowers (right side)

Audition 3.....Funky Pieced Border (left side)

Benny likes the funky pieced strip border...

so, that's what we are going with!

Barbara is creating patterns for fairy quilts she plans to make.

She can be posed lots of different ways.

Kathi's niece came today and learned to

free motion quilt:

She quilted this beautiful piece of

snow dyed fabric...

Then she sewed it into a carry bag:

Quilt As You Go.....Class

Comfort Quilt Day

Leads a class in.....Quilt As You Go:

Barbara explains the Quilt As You Go Technique

There are several different Quilt As You Go Techniques.

Today we are learning the strip method.

We are checking out Barbara's class sample quilts

First Step:

Choosing coordinating fabrics...

Cutting them into 6 inch strips

I chose pale blues...

Betty chose florals...

Now to cut the batting:

Batting is also cut into 6 inch strips...

Batting was piled up on all of the tables...

Then we made strip sandwiches...

top fabric, batting, backing fabric

Let the sewing begin:

Barbara is doing a trimming demo

Time to clean up:

Next month we will continue the piecing/quilting
