A Day to Play....


Our sewing machines are resting today...

We are playing with paint on canvas!




Messy Painted Canvas







We begin with a white canvas...







Acrylic Paint...







Foam Paint Rollers...






Layer 1.......Rolling on the Paint







Layer 2.....Stamping with found objects

paints and markers







We painted 6 canvas today!






We will cut up the canvas into thirds,

each member will choose 

3 different sections.

We will sew the canvas into projects!

  1. So inspiring! I wondered since the end result would be bags, if you washed the canvas before priming and did you use acrylic gesso?

  2. Do not pre-wash the canvas, it will make it soft and wimpy. No, we did not prime the canvas with gesso. You can purchase primed canvas from Dick Blick online. I have used primed and also unprimed canvas and they both work equally well. We did heat set the paints when the canvas was dry.

  4. I was thinking about waxing the canvas afterward since mine will be used as a shopping bag. I thought it might keep it cleaner and last longer that way. Aurora
