Comfort Quilts.......March 2011

Today the Harlan Valley Quilters are creating
Comfort Quilts
for members of the Harlan Community.

Linda is handstitching a binding...

This lap quilt was created in our Circle Quilt Class

Kathi enjoyed the free motion quilting on this quilt...

Linda is putting on the final touch...
a hand stitched binding.

Kathi is making more Houses...
She plans to teach the members how to make Wonky House Quilts.

This house has tea cup windows...

No pattern required...
Just cut and piece-as-you-go
Nothing to match up
The Wonkier the Better.

We are all looking forward to creating Wonky Houses for comfort quilts.

Barbara is working on a Quilt-As-You-Go...

All of the block and border sections have been quilted separately.
She is now topstitching binding over the seam allowances.

This method eliminates having to deal with entire quilt under the needle during the machine quilting process.

Barbara uses a walking foot to do the top stitching

I am starting a new Wallpaper Quilt today...
I spent the day sewing strips together...
It was so relaxing to just sit and do mindless piecing

By the end of the day I had a mound of strips behind the sewing machine.

Thelma is here visiting today...

She hand embroidered these quilt blocks

She is sewing sashing between the embroidered blocks.

That's all for this month.

Reminder:

Our Comfort Quilts and Raffle Quilts are created with donated Fabrics, Battings and Threads.
