Painting the Palace...

The Quilt Palace is getting a...

Face Lift

This is what the main work room looked like when

we moved into the Palace 2 years ago...

Big work area......but dark walls

This is my corner...

you can really see just how dark the walls are.

After 2 years of sewing in the dark...

it is time to brighten things up!

The paint is so dark that we need to prime the walls first...

My two trusty helpers.

Gunnr and my favorite guy

While they start rolling on the paint...

I removed all of the design walls....ugh.

My corner of the room....

Half way around the room...

The other half of the room...

Gunnr has had it with all of the painting!

The painting has come full circle...

Back to where we started painting the first wall.

Even the hallway gets a fresh coat of primer.

Look closely.....Gunnr is changing colors.

I think Gunnr got into his painting just a bit too much!

Here's a quick peek at the primed room:

We are heading into town to fetch paint samples...

Gunnr is thinking......light green paint.

2016 Raffle Quilt....

Each year we gather together to create a raffle quilt

to donate to the

Women's Cancer Coalition

This is for 2016

The Jane Sassaman fabrics were donated to HVQ

by the sweet and thoughtful Nancy Bryant.

We are using all of the fabrics left over from the top...

to create some "back art"

There are 6 HVQ members in the Palace today...

Once the design work was done...

it was time to stitch it all together

There was plenty to keep everyone busy...

Kathi is our chief designer...

I decided to add one more border treatment

to the quilt top...

The Quilt Back is coming along nicely...

We barely have enough left over fabrics...

Many Hands.....Make Light Work

I added 2 small strips of striped fabric to the top and left side

70 x 70 inches

The Quilt Top and Quilt Back are ready to baste...

more to come.
